ABOUT ME

Waldemar Olbryk – speaker, mentor, innovator
I graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Łódź and from the MBA course co-managed by the University of Łódź and College of Maryland. I also hold the title of Professional Project Manager granted by the Project Management Institute. I am the member, lecturer and mentor of the RSA (Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce), and the Board Member of the Responsible Business Forum. Since 2018 I’ve been the lecturer of the Music Managers Academy.
I was involved in the development of BP fuel station network and the creation of Manufaktura Center in Łódź, and next worked with Philips. In 2008 I took the job at Skanska and in 2011 I became the CEO of Skanska Property Poland (until 2014). In August 2017 I joined Echo Investment S.A. as its Board Member and the Head of Residential Department. At present, I am the Managing Director at Archicom S.A.
I have initiated and co-created debates between artists, business people and university scholars organized during SOUNDEDIT Festival in Łódź. I’ve developed Dice Dilemma oraz Coffideas method – a novel and creative form of networking or discussions based on Passion2Value concept. All my actions are rooted in People2People philosophy, with the human being at its heart, and empathy as its overarching principle.
What are my other beliefs? I believe in… values. I believe that organizations should be like good citizens and practice fair play in contacts with their stakeholders. I believe that people (and organizations) mean well but… fail at times. That’s why I seek to facilitate instead of persuading.
I strongly believe that innovation is the product of creativity and action. I strive to facilitate both of them in places which I transform.
How to achieve a high innovation rate? Each time, I’ve tried to root it in the triple infinity approach, or three pillars:
- Agility as an ability to align actions and creativity with changing circumstances. It’s about taking into consideration existing constraints and getting the most of them.
- Life-long learning which fosters creativity by developing novel associations between existing ideas. Learning comes from doing; there will be no learning and no innovation without doing.
- Accountability, ownership and “taking it on the chin” in both ideas and responsibility for your own action. You will not be able to create innovation without accepting your own mistakes. And you will not make mistakes if no one is held accountable.
Do you want to see my approach in practice? Here is the story.
